About the Family

A private family residing in Khamovniki is seeking an experienced and professional English Governess to work primarily with one child, a 9-year-old boy attending an international school.

The family values education, curiosity, and a positive learning environment. We are looking for a candidate who can combine strong academic support with engaging and interactive teaching methods while serving as a positive role model.

The Child

Age: 9 years old
Gender: Male
Current English level: Upper-Intermediate
School: British international school
Interests: Reading, chess, football, science, and travel
Personality: Intelligent, curious, energetic, and sociable

Primary Objectives

The successful candidate will:

Maintain and further develop fluent spoken English
Support academic English in accordance with the British curriculum
Improve reading comprehension and structured writing skills
Encourage independent study habits and intellectual curiosity
Develop confidence in presentations and public speaking

Responsibilities

Deliver daily English lessons tailored to the child’s needs and interests
Support homework, projects, and exam preparation
Encourage English communication throughout the working day
Plan engaging educational activities, discussions, and creative projects
Foster strong organizational and study skills
Accompany the child to extracurricular activities when required
Provide regular progress reports to parents
Travel with the family during school holidays when requested

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

Native English speaker status (UK and Ireland preferred; other native-English-speaking countries considered)
Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience working with children of similar age
Previous experience in private households and/or international schools
Familiarity with the British curriculum
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Professional, discreet, well-presented, and reliable personality

Preferred Qualifications

PGCE, CELTA, TEFL, or equivalent teaching qualification
Experience working in family environments
Ability to teach additional subjects in English (e.g., Science, History)
Basic knowledge of Russian is an advantage but not essential

Schedule

Monday–Friday
14:00–20:00

Flexibility required during school holidays and family travel periods.

Compensation

Competitive salary of USD $1,500 per week.
